Dry time is dependent on the type of paint used. For latex-based paint, dry time is about 4 hours. For oil-based paint, dry time is about 8 hours.
There are plenty of sheens and finishes for interior paint depending on the type of surface. Flat or matte, eggshell, satin and semi-gloss paint are the most popular for interiors.
Acrylic-latex paint is a paint/primer combo that applies evenly, is easy to clean, and looks and feels silky.
The durability of a paint job is normally more affected by the quality of the preparation than the number of coats of paint. The Fixable Painting team typically applies two coats of paint for previously painted surfaces. New raw surface or radical color changes usually receive one or two coats of primer prior to finish coats being applied.
The average cost to paint interior trim can vary depending on trim width and total lineal footage to be painted. Cost can also vary depending on the paint used. For a more accurate bid for your project feel free to request an estimate today!
Interior paint is made to be scrubbed, resist staining, and allow for easy cleaning. Exterior paint is made to resist fading and mildew and is sustainable in all weather conditions.
Interior paint should not be used outside because it lacks additives that can withstand the weather elements.
Using exterior paint indoors is not recommended. Acrylic latex paint formulated for outdoors contains a higher number of VOCs than interior paint. This means that the paint’s off-gassing will be smelly at best and potentially hazardous at worst, especially around people with allergies, breathing problems or chemical sensitivities. Even after it dries, exterior acrylic latex will continue to emit VOCs.
Don’t center everything in your home around the paint color; rather, choose a paint color that flows well with furniture you own. Neutral colors are a safe bet and go well in most every home. Get color swatches to test the colors in the correct lighting to get a better idea of how it will look in your home.
